An Older Newport 30ft Sloop

For 30' x 10'6" this sloop has a lot of living area. 6'2" headroom, a quarterberth, a V-berth and a dinette area are all good size sleeping areas.

The Head is a tad low in headroom but for a 1977 built vessel it really gives a person a comfortable cruising experience.

The selling price of most of these (older 1971 to 85) boats makes them great value if you can find one that has had good maintenance & upkeep over the years .

Of course all old boats will require some repairs and upgrades but that's the joy of boat ownership is it not?

Thanks for your great website here.

Regards, 'VAQUERO' on the west coast of Canada.

Sailboat-Cruising.com adds:

Newport 30's were all designed by Gary Mull and built in the USA by Capital Yachts Inc.

There were three versions available over the years, all had fibreglass hulls and decks, and were masthead sloops with fin keels and spade rudders.

The Phase 1 version was built from 1968 to 1973.

In 1974 the Phase 2 was launched with a taller mast and shorter boom, which allowed it to rate as a quarter tonner.

A more cruising orientated version was launched in 1984, with increased displacement, deeper draft and wheel steering.
