'Sweet Sensation', a 1988 Custom Hughes 40 For Sale
by Frank & Lisa McGee
(Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada)
'Sweet Sensation' under full sail
'Sweet Sensation' is a cutter ketch-rigged sailboat custom built for her first owner in 1988 by Hughes Yachts in Ontario, Canada. This center cockpit design by Sparkman & Stephens is a proven excellent off-shore cruiser. She has wide clear side decks for easy access to the fore and aft decks. Her keel is a modified fin type with a skeg hung rudder . She has a solid lead keel (10,700 lbs). She also has her own cradle for storage ashore.
'Sweet Sensation' is presently on her mooring in the Niagara River at Smugglers Cove Boat Club in Niagara on the Lake, Ontario Canada - just across the river from Youngstown Yacht Club in New York. She is rigged and ready for lake sailing or beyond. She is a well-founded, strongly-built, long distance cruiser with all the toys. We like to say that she is a "two-bedroom, two-bathroom condominium with masts". She has served us well both on Lake Ontario and during our time in Florida & The Bahamas. The systems onboard are set up in such a manner that she never needs to be plugged in. The solar system is more than adequate to run all of the electrical needs of the boat indefinitely including a separate fridge and deep freeze.
The owner completed a consumption entry on the boat many years ago, so there are no duties owing to the U.S.
A survey of the boat was carried in June 2017; please contact the owner (via the link below) for a copy of the Survey Report.
