My Halmatic 30 'Vega' is one of the best fitted out pocket blue water cruisers on the market at the moment, with an entire new rig in 2016, large functional cruising sail wardrobe of recent sails, watermaker and full electronics package.
'Vega's prop is well protected in the aperture between her long keel and transom-hung rudder.
Yachting Monthly’s review in 2013 tells us that the Halmatic 30 is...
"Tough, seaworthy, reassuring and easy to sail solo, the Halmatic 30 is also well balanced on the helm and powerful in a blow to boot. She’s no slouch either. But perhaps her strongest suit is her easy motion at sea. All heavy stowage is low down, along the centre-line – fresh water, batteries and fuel, as well as the engine – giving her a low centre of gravity and a commendable righting moment."
This has certainly been proven in our 5 years of ownership where she has been tested in Britain, Atlantic France, the Western Med, through the French Canals and most recently offshore across the Bay of Biscay to Madeira and the Canary Islands where she currently lies ready to continue the adventure.
She's fitted with an inner forestay for heavy weather sails and a Selden removable bowsprit for downwind sailing
'Vega's interior is very comfortable for a boat of this type and size, and has been a fantastic home for us but now we need a little more room to accommodate our growing family.
'Vega' is fully prepared for further ocean voyaging and is prepositioned to enjoy the cruising grounds of the Canary Islands or make a crossing this season if the new owner so desired.
Fuel and water tanks low down and on the centreline contributes to a commendable righting moment.

Based on Published Design Ratios for the Halmatic 30:
- Her Sail Area/Displacement Ratio of 16.0 suggests that she will, in the right conditions, approach her maximum hull speed readily and satisfy the performance expectations of most cruising sailors.
- Her Ballast/Displacement Ratio of 50.0 means that she will stand up well to her canvas in a blow, helping her to power through the waves.
- Her Displacement/Length Ratio of 338 tells us she is clearly a heavy displacement cruising boat. You can load her down with all your cruising gear and equipment and it will hardly affect her waterline.
- Ted Brewer's Comfort Ratio of 27.9 suggests that crew comfort in a seaway is similar to what you would associate with the motion of a coastal cruiser with moderate stability.
