'Dream Maker', a Morgan 41 Catalina Classic Sailboat for Sale
By owner Cathy Osborne

Forget the "slow" reputation of the early full-keel Morgans. This is the sought-after Catalina-era redesign.

  • Superior Handling: Features a long fin keel and skeg-hung rudder for superior tracking and maneuverability.
  • Visible Integrity: Unlike many cruisers, the chainplates on 'Dream Maker' are completely visible and accessible from both the inside and outside. No signs of water intrusion or weeping—just a solid, dry, and well-maintained deck.

THE VALUE ADVANTAGE: COMPARING "APPLES TO APPLES"

Comparing boat prices can be difficult. A lower-priced boat may seem like a bargain until you factor in the cost of outfitting it for actual cruising. To bring a standard Morgan 41 up to 'Dream Maker's "Turn-Key" offshore specifications, you would need to invest over $66,400 in hardware alone (not including the high cost of labor and shipping).

Morgan 41, 'Dream Maker', internal layoutLayout Plan

By choosing 'Dream Maker', you aren't just buying a boat; you are skipping the 6-month "refit" period and the massive retail expense of equipping a coastal boat for the islands. She is ready to sail the day you step aboard.

Cost of Upgrades (USD) to Cruising Standards:

  • Diesel Generator: $9,500 + installation
  • Watermaker: $7,000 + installation
  • Standing Rigging & Furler: $12,000
  • Dinghy, 15hp Outboard, & Sunbrella chaps: $11,200+
  • Aluminum arch for dinghy, solar panels 600 watts and wind generator: $14,000
  • Stainless steel lifeline of 1" tubing: $700
  • Stainless steel foldable ladder at midship: $1,000
  • Full Cockpit Enclosure: $5,000+
  • SS Port Lights from New Found Metals (17): $6,000 + installation

Total Added Value: $66,400+ in material costs plus installation

VIEWINGS & LOGISTICS

Location: 'Dream Maker' is currently located in St. Martin in the French West Indies. This season she is cruising in the Eastern Caribbean including the Virgin Islands, St. Marten, St. Barths, St. Kitts & Nevis, Antigua, and Guadeloupe. Her home port for hurricane season is Jolly Harbour, Antigua.

Because 'Dream Maker' is located in the heart of the Caribbean, we are committed to a transparent and efficient viewing process for international buyers:

  • Virtual Tours First: To save you a trip, we are happy to schedule a live WhatsApp video walkthrough. We will show you the "nitty-gritty"—under the floorboards, inside the lockers, and the engine running—so you know exactly what you’re flying in to see.
  • In-Person Showings: Viewings can be scheduled with 2 days' notice. We can recommend local hotels and Airbnbs and ground transport from the airport.
  • Survey & Sea Trial: There are several reputable accredited surveyors in the area. A sea trial and survey can be arranged upon a signed "Intent to Purchase" and a 10% deposit held in escrow.
  • Haul-Out Facilities: The boat hauls out for hurricane season at Jolly Harbour Marina & Boatyard, which has a travel lift available for bottom inspections and surveys. Other islands we are sailing to have haul out facilities as well for a survey.

Closing & Documentation

  • Title/Documentation: The vessel is currently Canadian Documented and Flagged. Title is clear and ready for transfer.
  • Closing Process: To ensure a secure transaction for both parties, we recommend using a dedicated marine documentation service or a maritime attorney for the escrow and Bill of Sale.

IN SUMMARY

'Dream Maker' is more than just a listing; she is a proven blue-water home currently floating in one of the most beautiful cruising grounds on earth. With many major systems recently updated and a comprehensive inventory of spares, she is truly a sail-away opportunity.

Skip the refit yard and the "Thorny Passage"—fly in and start your Caribbean adventure this season. I am happy to provide our detailed 2,000+ row inventory spreadsheet or schedule a live WhatsApp walkthrough for serious buyers to show you exactly why this Morgan Classic stands in a league of its own.
