Designed by Mike Scolfield, the Hike Metal 55 'Silver Bullet', is a custom-built 55-foot aluminum pilothouse sloop designed for offshore cruising, combining robust engineering with thoughtful interior craftsmanship. 'Silver Bullet' was built in 1998, with the interior by George Lewis Architect, completed in 2000.

Hull Aluminum 1/4 inch bottom & 3/16 inch topside, Deck Aluminum 3/16 inch;
High stress areas 3/8 & 1/2 inch aluminum;
Hull has 4 water tight compartments;
Tankage: 4-Fuel tanks, 110 gals;
4-20 gallon Water tanks;
Lifting Keel: 2-SS hydraulic rams, 42 inches travel. Down keel draft is 10 ft. Up, the draft is 6 ft 6in. The keel structure is aluminum 1,500.lb and is filled with 10,000 lbs of lead. The foil shape is a NACA. (NACA refers to a family of airfoil shapes developed by the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics, the predecessor to NASA. In yacht design, a NACA foil keel uses these shapes to optimize lift and reduce drag—especially when sailing upwind). The keel lead center of gravity is 8 ft below the water line with the keel down;

Heater: Espar Hydronic Heater for interior cabin;
